Head Chef | Woodstock – Cape Town | Catering Services
Looking for experienced HEAD CHEF to join the team of a busy Catering Services, with the head office based in Woodstock, Cape Town.
The company offers a variety of catering services from office lunches, meetings, film and set catering, birthdays, parties, dinner nights, funerals/wakes and corporate events.
As Ideal Candidate you will have:
Minimum Requirements:
- 10 Years previous experience in a commercial kitchen and/or catering business
- Proven ability to manage a team in a high-pressure environment
- Strong financial acumen – experience with menu costing, portion control, and food cost management
- Ability to build and implement kitchen systems that improve efficiency and consistency
- Knowledge of food safety and hygiene regulations
- Experience with bulk production and event catering logistics
- Excellent time management and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, late nights, and weekends when required
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee day-to-day kitchen operations, ensuring quality and efficiency
- Handle menu costing, supplier negotiations, and stock control to maintain profitability
- Develop and implement kitchen systems and processes for smoother workflow
- Maintain consistent food quality and presentation at all times
- Train, motivate, and manage the kitchen team to perform at their best
- Coordinate with front-of-house, logistics, and suppliers to ensure smooth operations
Start: ASAP
Salary Package:
- R20 – 25 000 Gross, depending on experience and skills
- Duty Meals provided
- Overtime rates: Saturday – 1.5x hourly rate; Sunday & Public Holidays – 2x hourly rate.
