We are going to make sure you are well prepared for your next interview by giving you interview tips, most common interview questions with answer examples as well as some bizarre interview questions over the next couple of weeks.  Let’s get started!

Prepping for your interview; here is your 5 tips:

  • Make sure you know where to go – we will always send you the address and details of who you will be meeting at your interview. Google Maps the address and plan your journey well ahead of time and make sure you arrive early.  Being rushed and arriving late will negatively affect your interview and being late isn’t the first impression you want your interviewee to have of you.

If you have a virtual interview, make sure you have to correct link and programme / app on your laptop or phone.  Ensure your internet connection is secure and uninterrupted and that your video and audio works – test it before the interview.  Plan a quiet and private area where you can sit for the interview.

  • Research – do research on the company and brand. Visit the website and understand the company and their values.  Read up on the background and services offered so that you are well prepared.
  • Know and understand the job specification and duties required. Print out the Job Spec and highlight specific skills the employer is looking for – take these skills and think about examples from your past and current work where you applied these skills.  You can also ask your recruitment specialist questions about the job spec, what to expect and advise on how to prepare.
  • Practice your interview skills and answers with a friend or relative. Some common questions always arise; “Tell me a little about yourself”, “Where do you see yourself in 5 years”, “What interest you about our company”.  Prepare your answers to these questions and practice telling your friend / relatives.
  • Prepare questions to ask at the interview. Examples of questions you can ask:

“What can you tell me about the job apart from what was in the description?”

“What would I be expected to accomplish in my first month/year on the job?”

“What is the key to succeeding in this role?”
