First Mate | The Mediterranean | Luxury Motor Yacht
We are seeking a skilled and experienced FIRST MATE (CHIEF OFFICER) for a 40m motor yacht cruising the Mediterranean. The ideal candidate will have a Master 500GT certificate, demonstrate strong leadership capabilities, and have a passion for ensuring the smooth operation of all deck activities while maintaining the highest standards of safety and professionalism
The contract: 7 months (April to November)
Boarding: Greece OR Turkey
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Captain in the day-to-day running of the yacht, including deck operations, navigation, and safety protocols.
- Lead and manage the deck team, ensuring all duties are performed to high standards.
- Oversee the maintenance of the yacht’s exterior, ensuring it is kept in immaculate condition at all times.
- Manage mooring, anchoring, and docking operations.
- Assist in planning and executing navigation and route planning across the Mediterranean.
- Monitor safety drills and crew training.
- Maintain excellent communication between departments and assist with guest service when required.
- Ensure compliance with maritime regulations and safety standards.
Requirements:
- Valid Master 500GT Certificate (essential).
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a First Mate or similar role on yachts of comparable size.
- Strong knowledge of deck operations, including navigation, seamanship, and safety.
- Experience cruising the Mediterranean is highly desirable.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills.
- Fluent in English; other languages (e.g., French, Italian, or Spanish) are a plus.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to handle high-pressure situations calmly.
- Valid STCW, ENG1 medical certificate, and other relevant qualifications.
